A Belief in a Child’s Innate Brilliance - Champion teachers believe that every person is born with innate brilliance; it is not the job of a teacher to make a child brilliant. Instead, it is our responsibility to foster the scholars’ unique brilliances, encourage our scholars to see themselves as brilliant, and help our scholars’ brilliance continue to grow through rigorous and relevant academic work.
Social and Emotional Learning - Champion teachers believe in the growth and learning of the whole child, and recognize the importance of social and emotional learning in the classroom. Champion teachers believe and carry out the practices of the Responsive Classroom pedagogy.
Rigorous planning and instruction - Champion teachers engage and challenge students to think and conceptualize. Mission Grammar Teachers will plan with units aligned to Common Core standards and deliver instruction with tenacious focus on rigor and engagement.
